Ghana striker Inaki Williams expressed disappointment after Athletic Club’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal in their UEFA Champions League opener on Tuesday night.
The Black Stars forward captained the Basque side and felt they had done enough to trouble the Premier League outfit, only for goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in the second half to seal victory for the Gunners.
Speaking after the game, Williams insisted the scoreline did not reflect the balance of play.
“The result doesn’t reflect the game; we played well. Arsenal is one of the favourites in this competition; we fought and gave it our all,” he said.
Athletic Club will now shift focus back to La Liga, where they face Valencia on Saturday, September 20.
