Rene Hiddink rejects Hearts of Oak’s settlement talks

Former Accra Hearts of Oak coach Rene Hiddink has rejected attempts by the club’s hierarchy to negotiate a settlement following FIFA’s ruling in his favour.

According to his legal representative, David Winnie, both Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV and the club’s head of finance reached out on Wednesday in an effort to discuss a possible agreement.

“Almost a year ago, we approached the club to reach an agreement that would allow Rene to walk away, but they refused to respond to emails or telephone calls,” Winnie told Akoma 87.9 FM.

“Now that FIFA has delivered its decision, Rene is no longer interested in any settlement that delays the process. The only thing Rene is interested in now is being paid the remaining sum on his contract as ordered by FIFA.

FIFA last week slapped Hearts of Oak with a transfer ban until they settle their financial obligations to the Dutch coach.
