Slovakian Super Liga side Nitra say signing former Ghana captain John Mensah will be historic for the club.
The Trogári were founded in 1909 but cannot boast of any high-profile signing or player who has moved on to greater heights.
Mensah, a former Lyon, Rennes and Sunderland player, has arrived in the city of Nitra to finalize his move.
The 31-year-old has been inactive since leaving Rennes last summer after the expiration of a short term deal.
Nitra FC are struggling in the Slovakian top-flight and believe the signing of Mensah can help improve their fortunes.
“I do not know the last time a player with such a history came to Nitra. We took this opportunity and I believe that he will be ready physically and play soccer,†Nitra General Manager Joseph Petrani.
