Slovakian side Nitra delighted with John Mensah capture

Slovakian Super Liga side Nitra say signing former Ghana captain John Mensah will be historic for the club.

The Trogári were founded in 1909 but cannot boast of any high-profile signing or player who has moved on to greater heights.

Mensah, a former Lyon, Rennes and Sunderland player, has arrived in the city of Nitra to finalize his move.

The 31-year-old has been inactive since leaving Rennes last summer after the expiration of a short term deal.

Nitra FC are struggling in the Slovakian top-flight and believe the signing of Mensah can help improve their fortunes.

“I do not know the last time a player with such a history came to Nitra. We took this opportunity and I believe that he will be ready physically and play soccer,” Nitra General Manager Joseph Petrani.
