Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford has downplayed the significance of his team’s loss to Hearts of Oak, stating that it’s no news.

Lions lost 1-0 to Hearts in the GHALCA Top Four on Wednesday – three days after losing 2-0 in the 2025 Homowo Cup.

“Once again we have lost to Hearts of Oak and it’s no news. It gives me a lesson and I know where to continue because I’ve seen a lot from the two games,” he said after the match.

Hayford believes that these matches are part of the team’s preparation for the league season, and he’s using them to learn and improve.

Despite the setback, Hayford remains positive, knowing that his team is still in the process of gelling.

“The team has not gelled yet,” he admitted. However, he’s confident that the team will come together and perform well in the league.
