Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku is set to join Bayer Leverkusen from AZ Alkmaar in a deal worth around €10 million.
Poku, 21, will sign a contract until 2030 after completing his medical and is expected to replace Jeremie Frimpong, who recently left for Liverpool.
With blistering pace and direct style, Poku has scored three goals and six assists in 47 Eredivisie appearances. He impressed at the U-21 European Championship, netting twice in five games.
Under Eric ten Hag’s 3-4-3 system, Poku will occupy the right flank, utilizing his speed and dribbling to stretch opposition defenses.
He might debut in the DFB-Pokal against SG Sonnenhof Grossaspach next Friday.
