Frank Acheampong lit up the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium with two second-half goals as Henan FC cruised to a 4-1 win over Shenzhen Peng City in the Chinese Super League on Friday.
With the head-to-head record evenly balanced before kick-off, the home fans expected a tight affair.
But Henan took control in the 41st minute when Zhong Yihao slotted in after a clever headed pass from Oliver Gerbig.
After the break, Ghanaian winger Acheampong stole the show. First, in the 67th minute, he finished clinically from Bruno Nazário’s pass.
Ten minutes later, he pounced again from close range, sparking wild celebrations. Yang Yilin added a fourth in the 86th minute on a rapid counterattack, before Wesley grabbed a late consolation for the visitors in stoppage time.
Acheampong, who played 83 minutes, has now scored ten goals in 20 league games this season, cementing his role as Henan’s attacking talisman.
Henan, sitting in fine form, now turn their focus to a tough clash away to Shanghai Port on August 15.
