Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly monitoring German-born Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku, according to Dutch outlet Soccernews.nl.
The 21-year-old AZ Alkmaar forward is said to be on manager Erik ten Hag’s wishlist ahead of the new season, with talks already underway between the two clubs. A deal could be completed before the close of the summer transfer window.
Poku has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Jeremie Frimpong, who joined Liverpool earlier this summer. While Leverkusen are believed to be leading the race, Turkish giants Beşiktaş are also showing interest.
Born in Hamburg to Ghanaian parents, Poku has represented the Netherlands at youth level but remains eligible to play for Ghana.
