Ghana forward Joseph Paintsil says he is delighted after helping LA Galaxy cruise past Club Santos Laguna with a resounding 4-0 victory in the Leagues Cup on Thursday night.
The Black Stars attacker set the tone early, latching onto a pinpoint Mauricio Cuevas cross to break the deadlock in just the second minute. Brazilian striker Matheus Nascimento made it 2-0 shortly before half-time, paving the way for a dominant display by the MLS champions.
Speaking after the game, Paintsil emphasised the importance of the win as Galaxy booked their place in the quarter-finals.
“It really means a lot. We needed these points and goals to get to the next stage, and we did what we had to do. We thank the supporters for coming, and now we focus on the next game to see who we face,” he said.
For his decisive contribution, the 26-year-old was named Man of the Match, capping off a night where LA Galaxy’s attacking firepower proved too much for their Mexican opponents.
