John Paintsil tips Black Queens for future WAFCON glory

Black Stars assistant coach John Paintsil has thrown his weight behind the Black Queens, expressing strong belief that the team has what it takes to become champions of Africa soon.

After missing out on the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) since 2018, the Black Queens made a powerful comeback, clinching bronze with a dramatic penalty shootout win over South Africa.

In an interview with Adom FM Sports, Paintsil commended the team’s resilience and potential, pointing to individual brilliance and overall team cohesion as key strengths

“I see a team that has a future, one that can grow into an even stronger side,” he said.

“There are standout talents in there, and with the right support, they will rise to the top.”

The team’s podium finish has renewed optimism around the women’s game in Ghana, with many, including Paintsil, calling for consistent support and investment.

“One thing that stood out for me was their unity. These girls need to be encouraged, and I’m confident they can go on to dominate African women’s football,” he added.
