Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah has been ruled out of Sunday’s Community Shield match against Liverpool due to a thigh injury sustained during pre-season.
The 26-year-old, who remains eligible for Ghana despite previously playing for England, picked up the injury in Palace’s 2-0 defeat to Augsburg. Scans revealed a muscle strain that will keep him out for up to six weeks.
Nketiah’s absence is a major blow for Palace boss Oliver Glasner as the Eagles prepare to take on the Premier League champions at Wembley in the 2025/26 season curtain-raiser.
His injury also means he is likely to miss early Premier League fixtures against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, as well as key Europa League qualifiers.
