Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are in South Africa ahead of their much-anticipated Toyota Cup clash against Premier Soccer League heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs.
The Porcupine Warriors made their way through Johannesburg before arriving in Durban, where they received a warm welcome and checked in at the Protea Hotel Fire and Ice.
Under head coach Karim Zito, the team has wasted no time getting down to business, holding two training sessions at the George Campbell School of Technology to adapt quickly to the conditions and fine-tune preparations for Saturday’s game.
Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku, who has been in blistering form since rejoining the club, says the team is fully focused on delivering a victory to their fans.
“We all know Asante Kotoko is one of the biggest clubs in Africa, undoubtedly. We try to win every game, not just for ourselves but for our supporters.
We want to win this Saturday to make them very happy,” he told the club’s media team.
The Toyota Cup encounter is set to take place on Saturday, July 26, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, with kickoff scheduled for 13:00 GMT.
