Former Ghana striker Joetex Frimpong believes the Black Stars’ recent struggles on the international stage are due to a lack of commitment from the current generation of players.

Frimpong, a member of Ghana’s historic 2006 World Cup squad, compared today’s team to his era, where the Black Stars consistently made it past the group stages.

“The difference between our time and the current crop of players was our commitment and the zeal to die for Ghana,” he told Sikka Sports. “The players of today are fond of their clubs more than Ghana.”

Ghana has failed to progress past the group stage in their last three major tournaments and missed out on the 2025 AFCON. However, hopes remain high as the team edges closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
