Spanish winger Nico Williams has committed his long-term future to Athletic Club, signing a new contract that keeps him at San Mamés until June 2035 ; the longest deal ever handed to a first-team player at the club.
The 21-year-old sealed the extension on Tuesday in the presence of club president Jon Uriarte, sporting director Mikel González, his mother María Arthur, and his older brother Iñaki Williams, who also serves as club captain.
In a statement, the club described the contract as a “strong bond” between Nico and Athletic, while the player himself said he hopes to “continue making history with the club of my life.”
The new deal ends speculation about a possible move to Barcelona, with the exciting winger choosing to follow in the footsteps of his brother by staying loyal to the only club he’s ever known.
