Ghana’s Black Queens will go into the final group game of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a win in mind after drawing 1-1 against Mali on Friday, July 11.
It was the Queens’ second Group C game, having lost 2-0 to South Africa in their first game. With a bright start, Alice Kusi put Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s girls ahead in the sixth minute as her strike found its way into the Mali goal.
Chances that came the way of both teams at the Stade Municipal de Berkane were fluffed, ending the first half 1-0.
Just seven minutes into the second half, Mali’s Aissat Traore found the equaliser after beating the Ghana defence including goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan Findiib.
The two goals apparently became the only ones to be scored as the game finished 1-1.
Mali have one foot into the quarter-finals after Friday’s game while Ghana will have to fight for all points on Monday against Tanzania.
