Ghana star Mohammed Kudus set for Tottenham medical on Thursday

Mohammed Kudus is expected to undergo a medical at Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday as he edges closer to completing a £55 million move from West Ham United.

The 24-year-old Ghana international has emerged as a top target for Spurs, who have now reached a full agreement with West Ham after an initial £50 million bid was rejected. With personal terms not expected to pose any problems, the transfer is now in its final stages.

Kudus is set to sign a six-year contract with the north London club, marking a significant addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The midfielder, who joined West Ham from Ajax in the summer of 2023 for €41.5 million, made 35 league appearances last season, scoring five goals and providing four assists. Although that was a slight dip from his debut campaign numbers — eight goals and nine assists — Kudus remains one of the league’s most dynamic attacking threats.

His current West Ham contract runs until 2028 and contains a release clause that is only active during the first 10 days of July. The clause is valued at £80 million for clubs outside England, £85 million for other Premier League teams, and £120 million for sides from Saudi Arabia.

Tottenham’s swift move to close the deal means they have avoided triggering the clause, instead reaching a direct agreement with West Ham. Kudus had made it known that Spurs were his preferred destination should he leave the London Stadium this summer.

The deal marks a major statement from Tottenham as they look to strengthen their squad and push for Champions League qualification next season.
