Afriyie Barnieh signs two-year deal for Swiss second-tier side Aarau after Zurich exit

Ghanaian international Afriyie Barnieh has completed a two-year move to Swiss second-tier side FC Aarau following his contract termination at FC Zurich.

Barnieh departed from Zurich following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

Barnieh joined the Swiss club in January 2023 from Hearts of Oak, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 24-year-old featured in 50 competitive matches for the Swiss side, scoring two goals and registering four assists.

However, the stint saw Barnieh struggle to cement a regular spot in the starting lineup.

Barnieh will hope to revive his career with the move.
