Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku believes playing for the Reds is solid preparation for representing the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Opoku, who earned his first national call-up under CK Akonnor, returned to the Black Stars for the Unity Cup games in London after rejoining Kotoko midway through the 2024/25 season. He featured for 45 minutes in Ghana’s 2-1 loss to Nigeria.
Speaking to Kotoko media, the 26-year-old said: “Playing for Kotoko prepares you for the national team. Even at camp, I tell them Kotoko is Ghana’s Barcelona ; it’s the dream club for every local player.”
Opoku registered 11 goal contributions in 17 matches this season for the Porcupine Warriors.
