Former Asante Kotoko winger Emmanuel Gyamfi has denied claims that he became a disruptive figure during his time with the club, instead pointing to internal politics as the source of his troubles.
Gyamfi, who joined Kotoko in 2016 and won the FA Cup in 2017, says tensions began when he refused to join the agency of former CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah.
“Things changed when I refused to sign with his agency,” he told Opemsuo Radio. “That was the beginning of my problems. I was never a rebel; I only demanded my signing-on fee.”
He also dismissed rumours of misconduct, including allegations that he threw a light bill at someone.
Now 30, Gyamfi recently ended his second spell with Legon Cities and has previously played for Aduana Stars and Armenian side FC Shirak.
