Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah has urged his teammates to maintain their focus for the remaining World Cup qualifier games.

With 15 points after six matches, Ghana tops Group I and has boosted their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The team will face Chad and Mali in September, followed by matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros in October.

Mensah believes that the team doesn’t need significant changes but rather a mental shift to succeed in the remaining games.

“We [Black Stars] don’t have to change a lot for the remaining World Cup qualifiers,” he said on Sporty FM.

“We just need a change in mentality towards the games that are remaining.”

This call to action comes after Ghana’s wins against Chad and Madagascar, which have put them in a strong position to qualify for their fifth World Cup appearance.

The Black Stars have previously featured in the World Cup in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.

Mensah, who plays for AJ Auxerre, is confident that with the right mindset, the team can achieve their goal.
