The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has confirmed the passing of its fifth president, Ebo Quansah, a pioneering voice who helped shape the landscape of sports journalism in Ghana.
A long-serving member of the association, Quansah rose through the ranks from deputy secretary to secretary-general, before leading SWAG from 2001 to 2007. He remained actively involved as a patron until his death.
His leadership saw SWAG deepen its role in advancing sports development and championing media professionalism, while giving due recognition to athletes and journalists alike.
In a tribute, the association praised Quansah’s “unparalleled” service, describing him as a guiding force whose legacy will endure.
Tributes have since flooded in from across ghana’s sports community, with many hailing him as a mentor and a cornerstone of the profession.
Details of his funeral will be communicated in due course by the family in collaboration with SWAG.
