“We need this kind of tough game now” – Kim Lars Björkegren on facing Nigeria in black queens’ AFCON buildup

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren says he anticipates a difficult challenge when his side faces Nigeria in their final warm-up game ahead of the 2024 women’s africa cup of nations.

The ghanaian side have impressed in their build-up, defeating Malawi 3–1 and coming from behind to beat Benin 4–2 in their first two friendly matches.

But the swedish coach believes Nigeria will be a step up in quality.

“With full respect to Malawi and Benin, Nigeria is one step up. One of the best teams in Africa with good players in almost every position, he told the GFA media.

He praised his team’s growth, highlighting their goal-scoring form, solid defence, and the importance of building a winning mentality. He also stressed the need for rotation as the queens prepare for a grueling tournament.

Ghana are in Group C alongside South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania, with the afcon kicking off on July 5 in Morocco.
