It’s Not Otumfuo’s Job to Fund Kotoko-Herbert Mensah

Former Asante Kotoko Chairman, Herbert Mensah, says Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the club’s life patron, is not responsible for funding the club.

His comment came as Kotoko’s players, IMC, and technical team presented the FA Cup trophy to the Asantehene at Manhyia Palace.

“Otumfuo has already invested. It’s not his job to fund Kotoko,” said Mensah, now President of World Rugby’s African Association. “Those who run the club must invest. Holding Kotoko is an honour and a privilege.”

Mensah, who led the club from 1999 to 2003, is regarded as one of Kotoko’s finest leaders. The Porcupine Warriors will play in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup after their FA Cup success.
