Berekum Chelsea striker Stephen Amankona has etched his name into Ghana Premier League history, becoming the first player since Ishmael Addo in 2001 to win the Golden Boot in consecutive seasons.
Amankona scored 15 goals in the 2024/25 season, following his 19-goal haul in 2023/24, to once again finish as the league’s top scorer ; despite playing five fewer matches.
His clinical displays, including standout goals against Aduana Stars and Medeama SC, showcased a blend of power, finesse, and killer instinct.
At just 25, his back-to-back feat has drawn comparisons with Hearts of Oak legend Ishmael Addo, with interest from clubs in Tanzania, South Africa, and Hearts of Oak already circling.
For now, Amankona remains a hero in Berekum, carrying the hopes of fans who believe he’s far from done.
