Ghana’s Women’s National Team, the Black Queens, are gearing up for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in Morocco.
Head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has announced a 24-woman squad, which includes four home-based players: Kerrie McCarthy, Afi Amenyeku, Comfort Yeboah, and Nancy Amoh.
The squad also features debutantes Josephine Bonsu, Louisa Aniwaa, Chantelle Hlorkah, and Abigail Kofi Kim.
The Black Queens will camp outside Ghana as part of their preparations for the tournament, which kicks off on July 5 and concludes on July 26.
Ghana is grouped with defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.The team is expected to face tough competition, but coach Bjorkegren’s squad selection suggests a strong blend of experience and youth.
The Black Queens are determined to make a mark in the tournament and bring pride to Ghanaian football. With their camp underway, the team is focused on fine-tuning their skills and strategies to take on the best teams in Africa.
