Accra Hearts of Oak are set to undergo a major shake-up in their technical team, with current head coach Aboubakar Ouattara expected to transition into a new role as Technical Director.
The move comes as the club prepares to appoint experienced Ghanaian coach Maxwell Konadu as the new man in charge of the first team.
Sources close to the club indicate that an agreement has been reached in principle with Konadu, and the deal is expected to be finalized after the 2024–25 Ghana Premier League season wraps up on Sunday, June 8.
Ouattara, who took charge during the current campaign, has helped steady the team and guided them to a respectable fifth place so far, with a top-four finish still within reach
While his time on the touchline has brought some needed stability, Hearts’ leadership believes a fresh approach is needed to push the club back to the top of Ghanaian football.
The club has not won the league since 2021, and pressure is mounting to end the drought. Konadu’s potential appointment is seen as a step in the right direction.
With coaching experience at both club and national level; including with the Black Stars and a recent FA Cup win with Nsoatreman FC he is widely regarded as a coach who can spark a turnaround.
Ouattara’s expected shift into the Technical Director role signals a broader vision for the club, allowing him to focus on long-term development, youth structures, and aligning the club’s football philosophy. The changes reflect Hearts’ commitment to building a more sustainable and competitive future.
