Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed satisfaction with the Black Stars’ performance in the Unity Cup.
Despite losing to Nigeria and finishing third, Adams praised the team’s commitment and growth whilst talking to Sporty FM.
“We are all impressed with the level of performance of the national team. I am very impressed with the commitment of the team both before and after the Unity Cup games.”
The tournament provided an opportunity for young players to be introduced into the team, and Adams noted that some of them delivered good performances.
He highlighted the match against Nigeria, saying, “The first half of the game against Nigeria was not the best, but we all saw that in the second half, we took the game to the Nigerians.
Even though we lost, Nigeria could not celebrate because they knew that the Black Stars performed better than them.”
Adams concluded, “From the technical angle, I believe we have achieved so much… it has been a great tournament for the team, and we should be happy about it.”
The Black Stars will now prepare for their World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali in September. Adams’ comments reflect a positive outlook on the team’s progress despite not winning the tournament.
