Black Stars coach Otto Addo says he sees the Unity Cup as a chance for young players to shine and prove their mettle.

The tournament will feature Ghana, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica, providing a platform for Addo to test new players while building on recent progress.

Addo has included five debutants – Joseph Tetteh Anang, Aaron Essel, Caleb Yirenkyi, Abdul Aziz Issah, and Mohammed Gaddafi Fuseini – who have impressed at club or youth level.

“Team building is a gradual process,” Addo said in his press conference.

“This tournament provides a great chance for our young players to prove themselves. We aim to create healthy competition within the team by giving all talents an equal platform to shine.”

Several key players are absent due to scheduling conflicts and minor injuries.

Ghana’s first match is against Nigeria on May 28, with the winner advancing to the final on May 31.

The Unity Cup will help Ghana prepare for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali in September.
