Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini played a pivotal role as Union Saint-Gilloise clinched their first Belgian Pro League crown in 90 years, sealing a 3–1 victory over Gent on May 25, 2025.

Fuseini’s creativity and work rate throughout the season; underscored by nine goals and a key assist were instrumental in powering the Brussels side to the top of the table

In the decisive final match at Stade Joseph Marien, Union took the lead through Franjo Ivanović before Gent briefly levelled the contest.

Substitute Promise David’s brace then put the champions in control, but it was Fuseini’s earlier run and incisive pass that unlocked Gent’s defence and set up the breakthrough.

His performances across the campaign not only helped end a nine-decade wait but also earned him acclaim as one of the league’s most influential attackers.

Having joined Union from Randers in 2024, Fuseini adapted seamlessly to Belgian football, showcasing his pace, vision, and clinical finishing.

His nine-goal haul stands as the second-highest for a Union player this season, and his consistency provided the backbone for Sébastien Pocognoli’s unbeaten run through the Championship Playoffs .

With this triumph, Union Saint-Gilloise secured direct qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League group stagea f; itting reward for a squad led on and off the pitch by talents like Mohammed Fuseini.

For the 23-year-old Ghanaian, the title marks both a personal milestone and a symbol of a new era for one of Belgium’s most storied clubs.
