Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku has opened up on his time in charge of the Association.
Okraku was elected President of the GFA in 2019, succeeding Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Okraku’s election followed a torrid time in Ghana football where the country’s football was run by the normalisation committee following Anas Aremeyaw’s Number 12 expose.
Since assuming office, Okraku has faced wide spread criticism and public backlash for the state of Ghana football.
The most recent of the public angst was when the Black Stara failed to make the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2004.
This came on the heels of two group stage exits in the last two AFCONs and a World Cup group stage exit as well.
Despite his ‘unpopular’ reputation among Ghanaian football fanatics, Okraku says he remains committed to fixing and elevating the standards of Ghana football.
Now in his second tenure as Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku’s stint is coming to an end.
“I continually speak about the fact that I want to be remembered for my honesty,” Kurt Okraku told the GFA media.
“Not only to football but to the football family. I want the football family to remember me for what I say and for what I’ve done. I want people to remember what I say and what I have done. And at all times, i want to do exactly what I have said i will do,” he added.
Kurt Okraku was recently appointed as 2nd Vice President of CAF and hopes to help elevate the standards of African football.
