Belgium-based midfielders Lawrence Agyekum and Abu Francis have been named in Ghana’s squad for the 2025 Unity Cup, which will take place in London as the duo wrapped up their season with Cercle Brugge on Friday night.
Agyekum started in their relegation playoff against Patro, while Francis came off the bench to mark his 100th appearance for the club, a personal milestone that reflects his growing influence at Brugge.
Agyekum has featured once for the senior national team, making his debut in the Black Stars’ 5-0 win over Chad during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March.
Francis, who made his debut in March 2024, has since accumulated four caps for the national team.
Ghana will take on Nigeria in their opening match of the Unity Cup on May 28 as the winner will progress to the final, while the loser competes in the third-place playoff on May 31.
The Unity Cup, which involves Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica, serves as another opportunity for Ghana’s technical team to assess fringe players ahead of the resumption of major qualifiers.
