Former Asante Kotoko left-back Asmat Abdul-Hamid has arrived in Egypt to rejoin his parent club, Al Hilal Omdurman, following a dramatic and controversial end to his loan spell with the Ghanaian giants.
The 20-year-old defender travelled to Egypt from the United States, where he had been part of Kotoko’s preseason tour.
His abrupt disappearance from the team’s camp sparked concern and confusion, ultimately leading Kotoko to terminate his loan deal with immediate effect for breaching team protocols.
Signed ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, Asmat was seen as a promising addition to Kotoko’s defense. However, his stint was short-lived, marked by inconsistency and off-field issues.
Al Hilal, currently holding their preseason camp in Egypt, are now set to reassess the young full-back as they prepare for both domestic and continental competitions. The Sudanese side is reportedly monitoring his readiness as they consider his reintegration into the squad.
