Former Ghana Premier League sides Real Tamale United (RTU) and Techiman Eleven Wonders will go head-to-head in a make-or-break playoff clash on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium with the final ticket to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League on the line.
Both teams sealed their places in the all-important showdown after finishing top of their respective zones in the Access Bank Division One League.
RTU dominated Zone One A, while Eleven Wonders emerged leaders of Zone One B, setting the stage for a North-versus-Bono showdown packed with history, hunger, and high stakes.
After a disappointing exit from the top flight last season, RTU are chasing an immediate return. The Tamale-based side finished bottom three in the 2023/24 Premier League with just 31 points but have since rebuilt with purpose and power.
In Zone One A, RTU roared back to form; racking up 58 points, scoring a staggering 59 goals and conceding only 21 across 28 matches. They notched 18 wins and six defeats, ending the campaign with both the best attack and strongest defence in their zone.
For Techiman Eleven Wonders, it’s been a longer road to redemption. Relegated three seasons ago, the Techiman outfit have quietly gone about their business, grinding out results and reclaiming their place as contenders.
They finished their Zone One B campaign with 53 points; five fewer than RTU and scoring 42 goals and conceding more than their Friday opponents. But their 15 wins and just five losses underscore a team built on grit, focus, and belief.
