Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has called for a smooth transition of Ghana’s Black Satellites team into the Meteors, with some new additions, in preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
This recommendation follows Ghana’s U-20 team’s heartbreaking exit from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
After a hard-fought 2-2 draw, the Black Satellites were eliminated on penalties, dashing their hopes of qualifying for the U-20 World Cup in Chile, extending the country’s drought since 2015.
“[Ghana’s] U-20 team painfully exited from the African Championships at the quarter-final stage. that team is a very team,” he said.
“I believe that it is a team that when you keep it with few additions, they will grow to become the U-23 that will be participating in the Olympics [qualification].”
