Black Queens to sharpen attack ahead of WAFCON 2025 in Morocco

Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, are set to place a strong emphasis on improving their attacking play as preparations continue for the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has outlined plans for the next training camp, revealing that the focus will be on refining the team’s final third tactics. Specifically, the team will work on enhancing the connection between the wingers and the central striker to boost their goal-scoring potential.

“We need to get closer to the final pieces… That’s necessary, of course, to win games,” Björkegren explained, stressing the importance of a cohesive and clinical attack.

Despite acknowledging areas for improvement, the Swedish coach expressed full confidence in the team’s trajectory.

“I’m sure we will be ready in Morocco in the summer,” he added.

The 2025 WAFCON tournament is scheduled to run from July 5 to July 26, 2025, with the Black Queens preparing to face elite opposition as they aim for continental glory.

The upcoming camp is expected to be a critical phase in fine-tuning the squad’s offensive strategies before the competition kicks off.
