Ghana’s Black Princesses suffered a 4-1 loss to Japan in the 2024 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup at Bogotá’s El Techo Stadium.

Japan broke the deadlock in the 44th minute with Chinari Sasai’s goal, followed by Manaka Matsukubo’s nutmegged shot before halftime.

Miku Hayama increased Japan’s lead in the 49th minute.

Ghana’s skipper, Stella Nyamekye, scored a penalty in the 81st minute, but substitute Miyu Matsunaga restored Japan’s three-goal lead with a late strike.

Despite losing their first game to Austria, Ghana can still qualify with a win in their final group match against New Zealand on September 8 at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali.
