Michael Awuah Mensah reveals why he chose Hearts of Oak over Asante Kotoko

New Hearts of Oak signing Michael Awuah Mensah has revealed why he opted joined the Rainbow club despite initial interest from rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

He joined the Phobians this summer on a three-year deal from Nations FC.

Speaking in an interview with Peace FM, the highly sort-after defender shed light on the race between the two biggest clubs in the Ghanaian top-flight for his signature.

“The feeling you know as a player you have ended the season a club like Kotoko, Hearts are interested in you as a player you will know that it is due to your performance,” he said.

“Kotoko were the first to approach me but Hearts of Oak was pushing more than Kotoko,” he added.

Mensah made his debut for Hearts of Oak in the off-season Democracy Cup match against Asante Kotoko, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Phobians.
