Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has acknowledged Central African Republic’s formidable challenge despite Ghana’s victory over them on Monday.
The four-time African champions secured a 4-3 victory against their opponent in the 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
It was not a plain-sailing victory as the Black Stars had to come 2-1 down in the first half to win following a hat-trick from Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fataw Issahaku strike.
“CAR are a very tough side, and they gave us an interesting game, a very difficult test at the Baba Yara Stadium, and we were able to win. We have started on a very positive note, we pray for more,” said Henry Asante to Joy Sports.
The victory propelled Ghana to second place in Group I with 9 points from four matches.
The next round of qualifying will resume in 2025 as Ghana host Chad in March.
