The Championship playoff final is known as football’s richest match. On Sunday, Huddersfield will play Nottingham Forest as both clubs seek a return to the English top flight.
Huddersfield were in the Premier League just a few seasons ago before returning to the second division. Carlos Corberan’s team was expected to struggle this season and end the campaign near the relegation zone.

The Terriers surprised everyone by finishing third in the standings and narrowly missed automatic promotion. Now, Huddersfield have the chance to gain promotion via the playoffs.
Nottingham Forest are a fallen giant of English football. The Reds have been outside of the Premier League for around 20 years.
It is sometimes difficult to believe Forest are former European Cup champions.
The Reds finished the Championship season in fourth place. The final will feature the third and fourth-place finishers to the campaign. It is fitting that the Wembley final will have both teams in it.
Huddersfield reached the final thanks to a playoff semifinal win over Luton Town 2-1 on aggregate. Nottingham Forest needed penalties and goalkeeper Brice Samba to make a couple of brilliant saves to see off Sheffield United.
Both teams have had a lot of time off since the playoff semifinals. Corberan and Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper will be hopeful that injuries and fatigue won’t play a part in the final at Wembley.
Cooper joined Nottingham Forest after the club got off to an awful start this season. The manager led Swansea City to the promotion playoffs in each of the last two seasons. He left the job believing the club had gone as far as possible under his management.
Now, Cooper is one game away from taken the fallen giants of Nottingham Forest back to the top flight.
Forest fared well against Huddersfield during the season. The Reds won two of their games in all competitions against Huddersfield.
These teams have been very even over the course of their last six encounters. They have split the wins three apiece. Nottingham Forest outscored Huddersfield 7-6 in their last six games. A total of 18 yellow cards and one red card were handed out in the last six encounters between them.
Both Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest were excellent in the regular season. However, Forest took two wins from three matches in all competitions against Huddersfield.
The Reds should post a win at the end of full-time by a score of 2-0. Forest conceded the Championship’s second-fewest goals with just 40 allowed. Nottingham Forest should achieve promotion back to the top flight.
