Black Starlets not feeling pressure to qualify for U-17 AFCON – Henry Asante Twum

The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, says the Black Starlets are not under pressure to qualify for the Total Energies U-17 AFCON.

The team is in Group A, alongside Côte d’Ivoire and Benin, for the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, slated to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium from May 15 to 28, 2024.

Currently, the Starlets are in Russia for a four-nation tournament, aiming to prepare well ahead of the main event tough suffered a 3-1 defeat against Russia in the opening game.

“Pressure is an everyday thing, whether you are the host or playing elsewhere; there’s always pressure,” he told CitiSports.

“We are a powerful football house; our history says it all. The pressure will turn to our advantage because we will have the 12th man behind us.”

“The fans will throng to the Accra Sports Stadium as they did during the African games, and I’m hoping the fans will cheer the team to victory.”
