Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong joined his teammates in celebrating Bayer Leverkusen’s first-ever German Bundesliga title following their decisive 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Sunday afternoon.

The victory at the BayArena, which saw Leverkusen triumph over traditional powerhouse Bayern Munich in the league standings, was marked by jubilant scenes as supporters hailed Frimpong as one of the heroes of this historic campaign.

The match itself was dominated by Leverkusen, with Victor Boniface’s 12-yard strike giving the champions a lead by halftime.

Granit Xhaka added to the tally in the 60th minute, and midfielder Florian Wirtz completed a stunning hat-trick, sealing the emphatic 5-0 win and the league title with five games to spare.

Frimpong came on in the second half, replacing Nathan Tella, and played a crucial role in the final stages of the game.

The 23-year-old defender has been a standout this season, contributing eight goals and seven assists in 27 appearances.
