English-born Ghanaian defender, Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu, was instrumental in Fleetwood Town’s 2-0 win over Northampton Town in League One on Saturday afternoon.

Sarpong-Wiredu, who started the game at the Highbury Stadium, played a crucial role in the team’s victory, providing an assist for Fleetwood Town’s second goal.

The head-to-head record between the two teams before the game stood at 5 wins for Fleetwood Town, 4 wins for Northampton Town, and 2 draws. The deadlock was broken in the 5th minute when Promise Omochere scored a right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Bosun Lawal with a cross.

The second goal came in the 30th minute, with Bosun Lawal scoring a left-footed shot from the left side of the box, assisted by Sarpong-Wiredu with a through ball.

This assist marked Sarpong-Wiredu’s second contribution to the team’s scoring efforts this season, having scored three goals in his 33 league appearances.

Fleetwood Town will look to continue their winning ways in their next league game against Peterborough.
