Egypt legend, Hossam Hassan has been appointed as the new head coach of the national team.

The appointment was made on Tuesday, February 6, by the Egyptian Football Association.

Hossam Hassan, 57, replaces Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria who was only fired recently after Egypt crashed out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The new head coach of the Pharaohs is adored in the country but must do well to earn the support of the people.

Over the last 16 years, Hossam Hassan has gained experience while coaching several clubs.

He started his managerial career as head coach of Al Masry and until his latest appointment, was in charge of Modern Future.

During his playing career, Hossam Hassan was a great striker who scored 69 goals for the Pharaohs after playing 178 international matches.

Before his appointment, the Egyptian FA reportedly engaged several coaches including two-time Africa Cup of Nations winning coach Herve Renard.
