AFCON 2023: Chris Hughton not solely responsible for Ghana’s disaster

Deputy Sports Minister, Evans Opoku Bobie says Ghana’s disappointing performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations should not solely be attributed to the head coach, Chris Hughton but rather a “shared responsibility”.

The Black Stars are on the verge of exiting the tournament, having been up two points from a possible nine.

The Ghanaian team suffered a 2-1 loss to Cape Verde before playing out a 2-2 draw twice with Egypt and Mozambique.

“Instead, everyone must be held accountable. It’s a shared responsibility,” Evans said on Akoma 87.9 FM.

“Chris Hughton has his own portion of the problem, which is related to his substitution, but there are other issues in the team that cannot be attributed just to the coach.”

The Black Stars need Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia to lose their matches to stand a chance of reaching the last 16.
