Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will miss Egypt’s next two Africa Cup of Nations games due to a muscle injury, the Egyptian Football Federation has confirmed

Salah was forced off just before half-time in Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations draw with Ghana on Thursday, experiencing discomfort in his hamstring. He was replaced by Mostafa Fathi

The statement from the Egyptian FA reads: “Mohamed Salah suffers a strain in his back muscle and will miss two matches in the African Nations”

This means Salah will miss Egypt’s side’s final group game against Cape Verde on Monday and the following round of 16 fixture if his side qualifies from their group

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken with Mohamed Salah regarding his injury.

The Liverpool winger has been a key player for Egypt in the tournament, and his absence will be a significant blow to the team’s chances of progressing further in the competition.
