Leicester City FC manager, Enzo Maresca, addressed the development needs of Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku following the team’s 2-3 loss to Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Issahaku’s late first-half red card for a dangerous tackle will see him miss three games, prompting Maresca to emphasize the young player’s learning curve.

Leicester’s defeat against Coventry marked their fourth of the season in 27 games, but they maintain a significant seven-point lead in the league over second-ranked Ipswich Town. Despite the setback, Maresca remains optimistic about the team’s position in the competition.

Maresca’s post-game press conference shed light on Issahaku’s situation, with the manager acknowledging the player’s youthful stage and the necessity for him to enhance his composure on the field.

“Abdul is very young. He needs to learn many things. One of the things is he probably needs to be more calm. But it’s part of his process.”

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, on loan from Sporting Lisbon, has been a notable asset for The Foxes.

With two goals and seven assists in 23 league games, he has made a positive impact. Notably, his decision to excuse himself from the 2023 Black Stars AFCON group added a layer of context to his recent performance and the team’s dynamics.
