Andre Ayew’s move to Le Havre was a smart decision – Former Ghana assistant coach Herve Renard

Former Ghana assistant coach, Herve Renard, has described Andre Ayew’s move to Le Havre as an “intelligent one”.

Ayew returned to French Ligue 1 after going six months with a club having played for Olympique Marseille.

The Ghana skipper was released by Nottingham Forest following the conclusion of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

“He (Andre Ayew) has just relaunched himself by coming to the French Ligue 1 for Le Havre. I think it’s a good choice. It’s an intelligent choice,” the former Zambia and Ivory Coast coach said this in his interview for French Ligue 1’s documentary on African players in the league titled, “Follow your lucky star: Africa and Ligue 1 Uber Eats, the common goal”.

Renard assisted then Black Stars head coach Claude Le Roy during the latter’s time leading the four-time African champions’ run at the 2008 AFCON. Dede Ayew made his AFCON debut in the 2008 edition.

Ayew is preparing to play in his eighth AFCON with Ghana. The Black Stars are in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
