2023 Africa Cup of Nations: 25 Black Stars players train as preparations kick off in Kumasi

The Black Stars of Ghana held a first training session on Tuesday, January 2, as part of preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The training session took place at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, the home venue of Ghana Premier League side Nations Football Club.

At training today, 25 out of the 27 Black Stars players invited to represent Ghana at the AFCON trained under the guidance of head coach Chris Hughton and his technical team.

The only players who have not reported to camp include Mohammed Kudus and Inaki Williams.

Players in camp:

Goalkeepers.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Jojo Wollacott, Richard Ofori

Defenders.

Alidu Seidu, Dennis Odoi, Kingsley Schindler, Gideon Mensah, Hamid Fatawu, Daniel Amartey, Nicholas Opoku, Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu

Midfielders.

Salis Samed, Baba Iddrisu, Majeed Ashmieru, Elisha Owusu, Richmond Lamptey, Andre Ayew,

Wingers.

Osman Bukari, Joseph Paintsil, Jordan Ayew, Ernest Nuamah, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer

Strikers

Antoine Semenyo, Jonathan Sowah

Absentees:

Inaki Williams, Mohammed Kudus

The Black Stars will step up training on Wednesday and look forward to the friendly against Namibia on Monday, January 8.
