Egypt’s national football team, under the guidance of coach Rui Vitoria, has officially declared their 27-man squad for the much-anticipated tournament set to unfold in Cote D’Ivoire in mid-January.

Vitoria, who previously disclosed a formidable 55-man preliminary squad earlier this month, made the final cuts that have stirred both excitement and raised eyebrows among football enthusiasts. The list boasts a blend of seasoned talent and fresh faces, underlining Egypt’s determination to clinch an unprecedented 8th continental crown.

Among the notable exclusions are Al Ahly’s Yasser Ibrahim and Hussein El-Shahat, leaving fans speculating about the strategic choices shaping Egypt’s quest for glory. Meanwhile, the inclusion of Pyramids’ trio — Osama Galal, Ali Gabr, and Ahmed Samy — adds an intriguing dynamic to the squad, injecting fresh energy into the team’s pursuit of victory.

Omar Kamal Abdelwahed secured his spot despite an injury scare during the recently concluded Egypt Super Cup, where Al Ahly secured a convincing 4-2 win over Modern Future.

Egypt is in Group B with Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

Below is the 27-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El Shennawy, Ahmed El Shennawy, Mohamed Abou Gabal, Mohamed Sobhy.

Defenders: Ahmed Hegazi, Mohamed Abdelmoneim, Ali Gabr, Osama Galal, Ahmed Samy, Mohamed Hany, Omar Kamal, Ahmed Fatouh, Mohamed Hamdy.

Midfielders: Hamdi Fathi, Emam Ashour, Marwan Attia, Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Mahmoud Hamada.

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Fathi, Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’, Omar Marmoush, Mostafa Mohamed, Kahraba, Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’.
