Former Hearts of Oak coach Martin Koopman continues his criticism of the club’s board, questioning their capacity to assist owner Togbe Afede in managing the team effectively.
This renewed attack comes shortly after the board responded to Koopman’s earlier accusations of interference in player selection. Despite the board’s rebuttal, Koopman remains adamant that certain board members hinder the club’s progress.
Koopman, who parted ways with Hearts of Oak due to poor results, expressed his doubts about the board’s capabilities beyond player selection. “There are some people on the board that I think they cannot help him [Togbe Afede]. You are President and you spend a lot of money on this but you cannot buy a team,” he stated in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
He further emphasized the need for competent and trustworthy advisors to support the owner. “You must have balance and around you, you must have people who can help you. You must trust them and whatever you say to them, they must also deliver. What I saw in those four months, they can’t help him,” Koopman concluded.
Koopman’s ongoing criticisms have sparked debate within the Hearts of Oak fanbase and Ghanaian football circles, raising questions about the club’s direction and leadership.
