There were no plans to sack Chris Hughton – GFA PRO denies reports

Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association Henry Asante Twum has denied reports that there were plans to sack Chris Hughton.

There were media reports suggesting that the country’s football governing body were not content with the 64-year-old following Black Stars’ back-to-back defeats to Mexico and USA in the October international friendly games.

“It was unfortunate that the story [Chris Hughton to be sacked] went viral in the lead-up to two crucial World Cup games,” he told LUV FM.

“Chris Hughton was invited to meet the Executive Council but there were no plans to sack him,” he added.

Hughton will be in charge as the Black Stars face Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium in their first Group I game on Friday, November 17 before travelling to face Comoros on November 21.
